"Kate Reid's song "Numb" is a heartbreak anthem. A song that at the end of the day, is meant to come and help someone going through hard times. That is what a great song is, and that's what Numb is."-Acey K Music-Boston, Massachusetts
Born in Whitehorse, Yukon, Kate was drawn to country music at an early age. She idolized Terri Clark, Leann Rimes, Shania Twain, Dolly Parton, Sara Evans, and Reba, and would serenade the neighbors from her backyard swing set with her own renditions of any and every song they would listen too. She began playing piano at the age of 5 and continued all the way into high school where she was part of many school bands and vocal groups. She competed in the Royal Conservatory of Music each year, and began performing all over her home town and northern communities with a mix of covers and original songs. At 15, her mom’s boss generously gifted her first guitar, and she would spend countless hours locked away in her bedroom writing her own songs.
Kate traveled to Vancouver to audition for Canada's Got Talent after high school, and took every possible opportunity to grow as an artist. She began performing throughout the Yukon , placing second in the Yukon's Rendezvous Superstar Competition at 17 , and had the opportunity to share stages with artists, including Aaron Pritchett.
Now a country singer/songwriter based in Calgary, Alberta, Kate has had the opportunity to headline iconic stages including Ranchman's, win best original song in Alberta for Ranchman's Rising Star Competition, and regularly plays several other venues and festivals throughout the province. Her relatable songwriting and storytelling mixed with her powerful, soulful voice has set her apart in the country music scene.
The past three years have been astronomical for Kate's music career. She has had the opportunity to work with industry professionals in Nashville and Alberta, including Stephen Shiveley, Charlotte Avenue Entertainment, Jordan Craig, and Grant Howarth, and released her first single and music video for "Numb" March of 2021. Her single "Bang" charted top 10 in the Canadian Indie Country Countdown. She has been nominated for three YYC Music Awards and released her debut EP titled "I DO" in November of 2022. Kate has big plans for 2024, including the release of new original music and many live energy shows that will leave the audience craving more!
